Join Us as We Explore Authentic Voice for Powerful Writing!
Most workshops are live virtual sessions on Zoom.
There are 3 in-person San Antonio workshops this December/January!
All workshops are designed for both experienced and beginning writers.
New Beginnings
In Person
As we go from darkness into light with the winter solstice, let’s take a look at what it means to begin something new. We’ll explore the emotions, steps and roadblocks of beginning a new phase.
Working with this topic, we’ll do exercises designed to tap into elements of your authentic voice. Then we’ll take what you have discovered and experiment with incorporating it into the kind of writing that you do or want to do. Change, growth and the courage to step out are important elements of characters in fiction and nonfiction stories.
Workshop duration: 1.5 hours (plus 30 optional minutes afterwards to hang out and ring in the start of the longer days.)
Cost: $15

Change

& Live Virtual Workshop
Change can be invigorating! And it can be really hard.
Sometimes we choose it, sometimes we don’t.
How do we create it? How do we deal with it? And how do we decide what direction to take?
At this reflective moment, as we close out one year and approach a fresh, open new year, let’s take a look at these issues and let our strong feelings about them bring out some voice.
We will then look at the way that considering these questions can deepen the characters we create in fiction or present in nonfiction.

Family
Live Virtual Workshop
So much joy. So much frustration. So much material for great writing.
We’re approaching peak family season. Harness the strong emotions and memories that come to mind this time of year. The workshop will focus on using emotions connected with family to uncover elements of your true voice.
We’ll do exercises to produce strong thoughts and writing, then we’ll look at ways you can integrate that voice into writing projects that you have started or would like to start.

What Scares You
Live Virtual Workshop
Fear runs deep. It wakes us up. It motivates us.
It explains a lot about our actions.
In this workshop, you’ll explore this fertile ground, pulling out topics that matter to you and rapidly accessing elements of your true voice. Then you’ll take what you have discovered and work on incorporating it into the kind of writing that you do or want to do.
Workshop structure:
After a brief discussion about writing voice – what it is, why it is important and why it is satisfying – we’ll do exercises to help you tap into your authentic voice and identify topics that are powerful to you.
In the second part of the workshop, you’ll take what you have discovered and look at incorporating it into the kind of writing that you do or want to do. If you can communicate the heart of what scares you and why, it will resonate with others.
Duration: 1.5 hours
Cost: $15
